Rehabilitation and architectural restoration 2024 - 7h November
Oct 25, 2024
The Rearq 2024 Conference seeks to promote debate on a series of issues associated with architectural rehabilitation and restoration, the Rearq Group’s field of research. The aim of the conference is to promote cross-disciplinarity in different processes involved in rehabilitation. By sharing both academic and professional experiences, the goal is to bring university research closer to the reality of a society where making the most of what already exists is increasingly necessary.
On the morning of November 7th, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, the Sala de Graus space at the ETSAB - Barcelona School of Architecture will host a series of lectures by researchers from the group on two main topics: the rehabilitation of residential areas and intervention in built heritage.
The Architects’ Association of Catalonia (COAC) will host the second part of the conference from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the Sala Mirador space. This segment will be dedicated to the restoration of large residential complexes. Pere Joan Ravetllat, David Martínez and Maria Sisternas will provide different perspectives from Barcelona. Fabio Lepratto, a researcher and professor from Politecnico di Milano, and Xander Vermeulen, founder of XVW Architectuur and recipient of the 2017 EU Mies Award, will share experiences from elsewhere in Europe. The event will close with a round table discussion.
