A new circular material to improve the comfort of architecture
May 26, 2026
Several researchers from the Department of Architectural Technology, led by reading professors Paula Martín and Oriol París and Professor Oriol Pons have developed a new material that they present in part in a scientific article (https://www.mdpi.com/2075-5309/16/6/1163). It is in the process of being patented with patent application P202530874. The main results point to thicknesses of 8 mm as optimal in terms of translucency, mechanical behavior and durability. This new material is being developed within the framework of the FLEXI-CRETE project within the Llavor-UPC 2026 call and supported by previous research from the competitive project TED2021-130155B-I00 Wiser (https://wiser.upc.edu/iniciiniciohome/inici/projecte).
