L2D louvers project developed by AIEM research group finalist in the NAN Awards

The UPC research group 'Architecture, energy and environment' becomes a finalist in the NAN Awards for the Best Architecture and Building Materials Projects 2021 in the Construction Techniques and Solutions category.

On November 18, the 15th anniversary of the NAN Awards for the Best Architecture and Building Materials Projects was held in Madrid (open in a new window), consolidating once again as a benchmark event in the sector.

Among the finalists in the category Miscellaneous, techniques and constructive solutions is the project of the AIEM research group.

The L2D double filtering slat is a device to be integrated into double-skin glass facades that provides healthy air and comfortable spaces for building users. This device filters and purifies the air penetrating from the outside by means of physical (filtering) and chemical (photocatalysis) processes incorporated in its design. In addition, the louver also protects against solar radiation. A careful design from the aesthetic point of view, together with a simple and at the same time sophisticated air filtering and purification process, make the L2D slat an optimal solution for the parts of the façade in physical and visual contact with the exterior.
